How To Defend Human Civilizations from CAT V Hurricanes

The online Think Tank has spent considerable time figuring out ways to defend against Super storms, F-5 Tornados, and CAT V hurricanes. Human civilizations, just cannot take that level of pounding and since most everything is already built, there is not much we can do in the way of defending against a hurricane right?

The question is; can we defeat the hurricane or collapse the eye wall and raise the low pressure inside, thus destroying this demonic virtual heat engine? Well actually I have considered several models. One uses a submersible/floatable "ELF" Barge working with a Laser system, which towed by a nuclear submarine underwater and then is inflated and rises to the surface and shoots up and out and the laser across the tops of the wavelets, modifying the droplet size.

The hurricane then cannot block the trade winds or normal surface winds. For shoreline defense, it would rest on a rail underwater and would shoot at the waves preceding the hurricane, until the barge was at critical buoyancy due to waves and then lower until the eye came over and raise again. The system would simply be set underwater and wait until needed.

Sometimes there is sufficient economic interests that do well in human civilizations in rebuilding after disasters who may not be able to get in on the preventative technologies, but rather enjoy government re-building contracts, does that make sense. No judgment here of course, humans are humans, but realize that much of this technology while needed is not wanted. Smile, not good or bad, it just is the reality of things in the present period. May as well laugh at it all to prevent the tears? So, for that reason, we have not taken these concepts very far.

Actually, the device could be also used to create a "Wave Weapon" (which of course is of interest to many) by increasing Typhoons and storm surges or even creating them for offensive needs of the military or as a defensive system against hostile humans. It perhaps could also be designed to make a series of three similar systems, which could create "Rogue Waves" to sink ships or combat a storm. With a storm, although this adds power to the storm it would temporarily remove the storm surge and unravel the tightness of the hurricanes Eye, setting it into a transitional phase as lowering the category temporarily while the eye-wall forms.

Since Lasers could superheat the water with reflective sheeting or on the surface, it could be done from the air too via an Airborne Laser Aircraft;

http://www.defensetech.org/archives/000551.html .

A device could also be dropped into the eye and be self-powered to stay in the eye floating on the surface doing the same thing while spinning around bobbing up and down. There have been many ideas floated, such as polymer ball absorption, putting oil on the water to prevent evaporation, etc.

Knocking down a storm is not impossible, it is just the size of the response is a huge undertaking once the hurricane gets to strength, that is a lot of energy, but so are the trade winds and the volume they move too. Anyway, too many thoughts for such a simple article, but it might be worthy of consideration, deleting a hurricane makes sense, but an island city facing a Tsunami from a Mid atlantic Ridge Event or undersea slide, or large Earthquake, is a much different issue. You still can get your 30-foot high intrusion of the ocean and you cannot stop that, using anything similar in nature.

A large city with a shoreline like miami or Long island NY, well, you would of course wish to have barriers for that or a giant "V" shaped break water piece of land from the direction you expected the Tsunami and then figure out barriers for the flooding. But an island in the middle of the Pacific who knows where it could come from surrounded by the Ring of fire. In the atlantic, the Mid atlantic Ridge would be the most plausible thus, you could suspect where it would come from. Long island and atlantic Coastline is in jeopardy of course.

What if a nuclear power decided it was angry at the US for instance? And we do not guard those areas like we guard our own coastline, nor has anyone attempted to alleviate stress thru relieving geo-thermal heat or causing minor events to prevent a future major event. There have been Discovery channel stories on the problems. A series of "V" shaped barriers would work good and also provide sea life refuge and natural habitats for abundance and food supply. Well have fun with all these thoughts and let us know what you think.

Stress Management In The Workplace: Handling Work Stress

stress management in the workplace is a reality that most of us have to face for one reason or another and coping with it is key to long-term career success.

Some careers are more stressful than others and some companies and managers you work for might provide you with more stress than youd otherwise like.

Having some stress can be helpful because it can provide motivation that allows you to work with a bit of a sense of urgency and purpose.

When stress in the workplace reaches a high level and carries over to your personal life in a negative way though, this is a sign that you need to do something to properly manage it so that it doesnt spiral out of control further.

Here are some suggestions for successful stress management in the workplace:

    1. Try to address issues that might be affecting your stress level that you might not readily think of, especially the ones you can change. Do you drive 1 hour to work each day and feel beaten up by the time you get into the office each morning? Are there ways you can lighten your workload? Do you need to learn how to say no to certain requests from time to time? Look for ways of changing how you to things especially ones you have some control over.

    2. Look for ways to improve your time management. often, stress is a result of simply not having enough time to complete everything you need to do. Stop wasting time talking with colleagues and making personal phone calls, stop surfing the Internet for personal reasons, and eliminate other time wasters. Shut your office door if you have trouble with people walking in and distracting you or find a quiet office where you can work undisturbed if necessary.

    3. Find some sort of athletic endeavor to take part in. I like working out at the gym but you might find jogging, playing squash or taking yoga classes will help. Try something athletic that gets your mind off work. Start by going for a walk at lunchtime just to get out of the office for a bit.

    4. Dont neglect your personal life. Remember to try to find the proper balance between your work life and your work outside of work. Try when possible to leave work at work. A separation between work and personal life is paramount.

    5. Carefully consider whether or not you are in the right job. If successful stress management at work is just not possible and if you yearn for your time with a previous employer when things were better, maybe youre in the wrong job. Do you like what do you or is it simply a job to you? If its simply a job there might be other jobs that are less stressful that are better suited to your personality.

Stress management in the workplace is critical to your long-term career and long-term health. When stress management is simply not achievable through change, consider consulting a doctor for a medical opinion in case you are suffering from more than just stress.

Gymnema Sylvestre, Sugar Metabolism And Diabetes

Gurmar is a common name of Gymnema sylvestre, meaning 'sugar destroyer'. Studies show that Gymnema sylvestre not only reduces the taste of sweetness, but also reduces sugar absorption from the gut into the body.

Gymnema also appears to stimulate the production of insulin by the pancreas. Studies have shown these benefits could help extend life. For example, see: Srivastava Y, et al. Hypoglycemic and Life-prolonging Properties of Gymnema sylvestre Leaf extract in diabetic Rats. Isr J Med Sci. Jun1985;21(6):540-42.

Gymnema Sylvestre And Diabetes
Anything which can help the body to produce more of its own insulin is to be welcomed. In studies, Gymnema has been identified as a herb which can certainly assist in the management of diabetes.

Gymnema has several properties which lends it to helping blood sugar management. It:

- Reduces sugar absorbed from food in the intestines

- Stimulates insulin production

- It appears to build pancreatic beta cells, which produce insulin

- Finally, taking Gymnema drops on the tongue dulls the sense of taste for sweet foods.

Some benefits from Gymnema have been reported for type 1 diabetes, but most research has been done on type 2 diabetes - the 'maturity onset' type.

For example, in a study lead by K Baskaran in 1990, Gymnema sylvestre was given to 22 patients with type 2 diabetes for 18 months to supplement their anti-diabetic medication. Most patients showed a distinct reduction of blood sugar levels by several measures. In addition, 5 of the 22 were able to discontinue their conventional drugs altogether! The inference was made that Gymnema appeared to be regenerating or repairing the pancreatic beta cells which produce insulin. support for this view was drawn from the fact that blood insulin levels rose after Gymnema supplementation.

K, Kizar-Ahamath B, Shanmugasundaram MR, Shanmugasundaram ERB. Antidiabetic effect of leaf extract from Gymnema sylvestre in non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus patients. Journal of Ethnopharmacology. 1990;30(3):295-300.

Healthnotes, a reliable science based herbal assessment website says of Gymnema sylvestre:
"Gymnema sylvestre has been used in India for the treatment of diabetes for over 2,000 years.... The hypoglycaemic (blood sugar-lowering) action of gymnema sylvestre leaves was first documented in the late 1920s. This action is attributed to members of a family of substances called gymnemic acids. Gymnema sylvestre leaves raise insulin levels, according to research in healthy volunteers."

Gymnema is a remarkable herb which can be a huge benefit both to those who truly want to cut down their consumption of sweet foods and those with blood sugar issues. Of course, if on medication you should consult your doctor before taking Gymnema: but if you have 'blood sugar lows' and are not on medication, try Gymnema.

The main treatment for low blood sugar involves a change of diet and getting more exercise: but if you do these things, Gymnema drops are a great help to have in your pocket, and Gymnema capsules can, with benefit, be taken 3 times a day for 3-6 months to help you achieve good improvements.

Max Hill loves sharing the knowledge he has gained about natural healing after more than 20 years. For example, on the website about Metabolic Syndrome he has been a key contributor to the extensive information there about Gymnema Sylvestre as well as recommending other important aids for digestion including the 90-day Digestive Programme . There is additional information on these sites about diet, exercise and all aspects of detox. take a look today - and get the benefit of Max's valuable knowledge and experience.

Golf, Lower Scoring And The Short Game

In my instruction I have found it extremely useful to break the swing down into its component parts. I divide the swing into 1/8 segments and each of these segments add another power producer to the motion. The first is the 1/8 shot, this is what the hands do to release the club, the second component (the 1/4 shot) is the use of the elbows and what they do to add power to the releasing action of the club, the 3rd component (the 3/8 shot) is the setting of the #7 position of the left arm (where the left arm goes as it crosses the chest) combined with the turn of the hips as the pivot returns the left arm. As the pivot of the turning hips return the left arm it remains back across the chest, it does not swing forward. And finally the 4th component (the 1/2 shot) which adds the shifting of the weight, and the additional 1/8 of the power.

Each of these shots does a job of quickly teaching what each component does and how it relates to the other components. When done with the wedges and short irons each component adds 1/8 of the total distance that club would produce with a full swing. In other words if you hit your sand wedge 100 yards each 1/8th would add 12.5 yards to the shot. Hands only 12.5 yards, hands and elbows 25 yards, hands elbows and left arm 37.5 yards, hands, elbows #7 left arm action, arm and shift 50 yards. this works with any iron club, a 1/2 shot (4th component) would go 100 yards with the club you hit 200 yards with a full swing.

By learning the swing this way you both gain a quick understanding of how and where each component works in the golf swing, plus you gain important feel and understanding of how to hit the shorter shots and which one you need for a given situation.

Trying to learn the full swing while wailing away with a driver is best compared to someone trying to learn how to drive a car by jumping into a formula 1 car and standing on the gas. Learning to drive that way is suicide, trying to perfect your golf swing with full hard shots is equally suicide.

For a rapid way to improve your swing and your game together, learning with the shorter shots is the key. Then when you have the components in place and functioning on the 1/2 shot you can add more back swing and more follow through to quickly advance to longer shots. Once the 1/2 sand wedge is mastered the actions of the body in the full swing are also well on their way to being mastered and all you have to do is turn farther going back and follow through more after impact to perfect your full swing.

The actions of the component parts are the same with the 1/2 sand wedge shot as the same portion of the full driver swing. Once the sand wedge is mastered the golf swing is mastered, since with this swing all clubs are swung exactly the same way.

Improve Your Golf Short Game

One of the most important areas of your golf is to constantly improve Your golf Short Game. When you consider that 80% of your shots are taken withing 150 yard of the pin, you begin to realize how important it is to always work on improving your golf short game.

The key to improving your short game is to try and stay relaxed. this should not be too difficult since you have just done the hard part - teed off - probably in front of a small audience! Now all you have to do is get the ball to the pin without making any horrifying mistakes.

The also need to be comfortable with your short irons. Consider going to the driving range with only your 5, 7 and 9 irons. Work through each club and find out exactly what sort of distance and height you get when you are hitting them correctly.

Another good idea is to only play with these 3 clubs for your short irons (not including your wedges) until it becomes second nature as to which one you select for different situations. this way, you will not be confusing yourself with too much choice.

Another important aspect of improving your golf short game is to get comfortable with your wedges around the green. Many shots can be wasted by hitting the top of the ball with your pitching wedge and sending it into the rough on the far side of the green. this is very frustrating and can cost you many shots on your score.

Make plenty of time to practice with your pitching wedge at the practice green. The key here is to first create 1 set up that you can can use to always guarantee that you get onto the green. Once you are comfortable with this and have used it successfully on a few rounds, mix it up a bit and create 2 or 3 other set ups for different distances and lies.

The key to using your wedges around the green is to not get smart too quickly. These are critical shots and carry a hefty price if they are carelessly executed.

Finally, lets not forget the dreaded bunker shots. bunker shots are fact of life in your short game. You need to practice these and find the club that suits you best for taking shots in the sand. Always remember that bunker shots are just another shot and don't really need to be feared.

With time and practice, you will see your short game improve. this improvement will dramatically improve your score too.

90+ Shooters - This Golf Article Is For You!

The advice I give in this article is aimed specifically at golfers that score over 90 for 18 holes of golf. But if you score under 90 for 18 holes you'll still find the advice I give you here valuable....so keep reading.

What you need to work on to score better is the following and this list is from the highest priority to the lowest

1. Putting

2. Chipping

3. Pitching

4. bunker Shots

5. Driving

6. Irons

7. Fairway woods

You should work on improving your putting first because if you normally have 38 putts per round and you improve by 5 putts per round you've just knocked 5 shots off your score. this same philosophy applies to chipping and pitching. The more you can improve those two aspects of your game the better you'll score. And finally, you must get really good at bunker shots.

Now when you're practicing putting you should mainly work on distance control. So practice longer putts first and then leave the shorter putts till last. But don't practice your putting for too long. Just get some good feel for distance and then go and practice your chipping and pitching.

And when practicing your chipping you should concentrate on landing the ball where you want and then assessing how far it's going to roll to the hole. Then select a club that will be the most efficient at getting the golf ball close. Then when you practice your pitching you should mix up the distances you practice from so that you get a good feel for distance control. But experiment. Make practice fun. Play some games. And this applies to bunker shots as well.

Play some bunker shots out of unusual lies. For example, play a shot that's plugged, play another shot where you have to stand out of the bunker but the ball is in the bunker. Just have some fun. Even try a "Seve" and get out your 3-iron and try to get the ball out of the bunker with that. this will force you to use your imagination.

If you just worked on these four areas of your game consistently then your score will drop. It has to. Because it's been scientifically proven that shots inside 100 yards make up about 70% of golf. So therefore it makes sense to work on that part of the game the most.

Unfortunately most golfers work on their game the reverse of what I'm saying, and I suppose that's why there is so many "DRIVING RANGES" around! So remember this 70% practice rule when you next go out to practice and if you spend all of your practice time hitting long shots and you're not improving, then don't say I didn't warn you!

Professional golfer Nick Bayley has found just one golf swing fault that could be stopping you from ball striking consistency and success. But now you can take a simple 2 minute golf swing test to see if you have this swing fault or not. Go here to take The Golf Swing Test now: http://www.yourgolfswingtest.com
